Victoria was first settled in the mid-1850s. Settlers cultivated farms and built several schools and churches within the first two decades. Victoria boomed with the addition of the railroad in 1882, though the community has remained primarily agricultural throughout its history. Today, Victoria is home to approximately 9,000 residents, and continues to thrive as an exurb of the Twin Cities.
