The Trick To Halloween Decor When Selling Your Home

Halloween is the first big decorating event in the coming months. Some people enjoy doing it up big while others don’t decorate at all. So if you’re part of that first group of Halloween lovers, what is the trick to Halloween decor when selling your home that will be a treat to home buyers?

The first thing to remember when you put your home on the market is you have already partially given up your home. It should be depersonalized, and put in the best light possible to woo prospective buyers. Overboard Halloween decorations when selling should be avoided both inside and outside your home. If you are someone who lives for Halloween, forgo the big decorations for this year and opt for more subtle touches. Think positively and know that leaving your decorations packed this year means one less thing to pack up again when your home is sold and you are getting ready to move.

Rather than all the typical decorations, go for a more friendly fall look with pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and a charming door decoration. To avoid scaring away the buyers, avoid blood and gore, zombies, spider webs, witches, ghosts, clowns, skeletons, and all other frightening decor.

Keep your decorations to a minimum. Don’t turn your front yard into a three ring Halloween circus. Buyers don’t want to arrive at a home to see an overcrowded graveyard in the front yard. Keep your windows free of Halloween decorations when selling your home so prospective buyers can see how big and bright your home is. Make sure your pumpkins are in good shape, not old and rotten.

If Halloween is your favorite holiday and you want to go all out, consider shortening the time frame or perhaps even leaving it to the evening of the 31st only, when trick-or-treaters come by. Remember, it’s only one Halloween of many and you’ll have more to look forward to at your next home.
